Stash Enhancement Saturday

So much for the yarn diet.  I did acquire yarn for Tour de Sock:
One of them came from stash.    Another one purchased for TdS has been set aside in favor of another skein.  It turned out that I needed one skein that wasn't mostly plain.  Who would have guessed that I didn't have anything Doctor Who-ish that was appropriate?  I had to buy Van Gogh's Bedroom (second from the right).

Here's the stuff that I had no really good reason to buy.  From Collinette:
 Sea Breeze
Forest
October Afternoon

These are from Hedgehog Fibers.  The texture looks like Noro, only with even thicknesses.  The colors are great.
 Genie
Pier

I want to drop everything and use at least one of these last two.  I probably won't, but am not making any promises.

WIP Wednesday

I managed to sign up for not one but two mystery sock knit-alongs.  The mystery is mostly how I manged to forget them both.  D'oh!  This one has an unusual name that I have not yet memorized:

This one is called Winslow Arizona and Oyster Bay Long Island.  Or something like that.  Awkward picture partly due to the last clue so far being the heel turn.

The double knit scarf is going better.  It is about 2/3 done:
Last is sock one of Hieroglyphics:

No More Collinette

The Welsh yarn company Collinette reports that they've dyed their last yarn.  I haz sad.  I haven't used a lot of their yarn but it was one of those that I fully intended to get more of.

I did a quick search for some bargains on Jitterbug.  Alpaca Direct has some on sale.  You'll see a few here on an upcoming Friday.

WIP Wednesday

The double knit scarf has passed the half way point.  Doing only 5 rows at a time seems to have gotten me to stop resisting working on it.

Winslow Arizona and Oyster Bay Long Island is the rather long name for the mystery socks I'm doing.  I was happy to see that the short cuff I did was not a problem.  I was not happy to see that the dark yarn I'm using doesn't work as well as a lighter color.  I finally use an semi-solid yarn appropriately and it hides the pattern.

A pattern in my queue was on sale, so I had to start it.  It's called Hieroglyphic Socks.  All I've got is the cuff so far.

For something completely different, I'm planning on doing the Sheep Lamb Project Bag.  It's crocheted with cotton yarn.

Stash Enhancement Saturday

I ordered yarn from California and Tennessee on the same day.  One about a half a state away and the other is on the opposite coast.  Both yarns arrived the same day.  I'm not complaining, mind you.  I just don't understand how it can happen.  I wonder if USPS has a Tardis?

The first yarns for Tour de Sock have arrived.  This is Do Not Blink from Invictus:

It's not that thrilling of a color, but it works with the lavender-gray beads I have far too many of.

Miss Babs sent Tard-ish:
and Naples (chosen to contrast with Tard-ish):

The major indulgence was the set of Lucky Cat stitch markers.  Lucky Cats are one of my many odd obsessions.  I've even got a solar powered one that waves its paw.  I could not resist a whole rainbow of the little guys:

Finished Object Friday

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds:

Sock Lovers Socks:
Raspberry Beret:
It's more of a combination of purple and raspberry, which is just as appropriate.  One of the people on my Ravelry friends list called her beret The Project Formerly Known as Raspberry Beret.  Hee hee.

WIP Wednesday

I started a mystery sock that I forgot signing up for.  I've only done the first clue which is about 1/2" of ribbing with a few beads on it.  Not worth posting a picture of it.

I passed the 40% mark on the scarf and it's going better than it was.  The bubbles were a bit more difficult than they should have been.

This is the May knit from stash sock.  We had the choice of knitting toe-up or cuff-down.  I picked toe-up:

I ordered most of the yarn I'll use for Tour de Sock.  I want to support the sponsors and stick with my team's theme (Doctor Who).  It was necessary to buy more!  It may have been dangerous to do this so soon (TdS starts July1).  The sponsors keep coming out with more yarns.  I might have to order another skein from Invictus instead of using one of them in my stash.  It will probably work better with the pattern, she said, trying to justify buying more yarn.
