August 18: Bits of Color, pattern 7

August 25: Bits of Color, pattern 8

September 1: Bits of Color, pattern 9

The prospective Mock has clues released on June 1, 8, and 15. I think that doing it would be a Bad Idea. I think I'll keep this updated as a deterrent next time I get tempted.

No FOs just clues

My new obsession is mystery knit alongs. I've been so spacey lately that it's probably the best thing for me to do. You get one clue at a time and knit only a small amount. Here's the first two clues of Bloom!:
I'm struggling with the latest clue on my Pollen socks. I'm blaming it on pollen. I think I've developed allergies. At least it isn't to wool!

SpaceCadet Indeed

I spaced out that I had another package coming from the Interstellar Yarn Alliance. This was a lovely surprise:
I like the bright, wacky colors that SpaceCadet sends, but I like softer colors even more. This is called Blossom Blossom Bloom and was inspired by spring flowers. I have no idea what I'll do with it yet, but I like it a lot. The bonus treat was a cute little notebook.

ETA: A mind's a terrible thing to lose. First I got SpaceCadet mixed up with Mad Color. Then I forgot that I'd signed up for another round of the Interstellar Yarn Alliance. This is the first of three packages, not the last of three. It's great to get yarn I'd forgotten about, but a bit odd that I managed to forget it in the first place.

Waiting...

...for the third clue in one mystery sock knitalong, for the first clue in a second, and the first round of Tour de Sock.

It's not like I don't have anything else to work on. I've been slogging away on my use-it-or-lose-it project for May, Miss Winkle. It's mostly knitknitknit with a series of loops along one edge. Once you get it through your head how to do the loops, it's easy. Easy to the point of boring. The scarf is cute, though.

Also in progress but definitely not boring is The Name of the Doctor scarf. I'm getting a little better at double knitting which is a Good Thing. I'm going to do the designer's Can't Stop the Signal scarf when it is done. I went off my yarn diet and got the yarn for it. My favorite excuse came into play: a coupon! I turned that into some lovely black alpaca/merino fingering. I had to get the perfect multicolored yarn which turned into a special order from Woolen Mill St yarns:

Any Browncoat will be able to tell you why Fruity Oaty Bar colored yarn is perfect for this scarf.

I did finish my Fangtastic socks. I kept calling them vampire socks because of the heel. Note the little bats flying on the front.

Many Bags Full

I'm all set for Tour de Sock. Six of the bags contain the materials for the Tour which starts June 1. I'm on Team Also Madly Courageous. I don't expect we'll outdo those turbo-charged Finns, but we might do okay.

One bag the yarns for the Bloom mystery sock which starts on Thursday.

The last bag has the Vampire Sock yarn. It was for a KAL I didn't do last fall. I think I need an extra project to fill in between sock clues.

If anyone's looking for me, I'll be off winding yarn. And looking for the Vampire pattern. And trying to figure out where I stashed the rest of my project bags.

Stuff

We lost cousin Patty on Saturday. I'm not strong enough right now to drive up to Michigan for the funeral. That makes me extra sad. RIP, Pat. You fought the good fight.

Knitting's usually the one thing I can do when things get to this point. It has to be easy things, though. This eliminates the Miss Winkle shawl (I keep getting the loop twists wrong). Also the Name of the Doctor scarf (too much counting). I got to poking around on Ravelry and ended up knitting these Conglomeration socks out of leftovers:

I signed up for two MOCKs (mystery socks). This is the first clue for the first one, Pollen:

I also signed up for this year's Tour de Sock. The supplies list has been released. It has the usual information like: "100 grams fingering weight yarn, about 400 yards, solid or semisolid". The supply list for Sock Beta has that sort of information, plus rubber bands, scissors, tape, glue, clear packing tape or clear contact paper. That should be interesting!

Finished/Unfinished/Hibernating

Finished:
Chocolate Moose Socks
Ms. Moneybags

Unfinished:

The Name of the Doctor scarf (about 25% complete)
Miss Winkle shawl (about 5% complete). This is the May Use It Or Lose It project. The yarn's 4 or 5 years old.

Whovian Messenger Bag: hardly started yet.

Hibernating:

10 stitch blanket. The pattern's fine but it doesn't work that well with yarn leftovers. I'm rethinking this.
