Felici's Back

Knit Picks has Felici back in stock.  They've brought Time Traveler back again, so don't say nobody told you.  This is something like the fourth or fifth time they've done that.  It was supposed to be a one-off.

Since I still have Time Traveler in my stash from the second regeneration, I did not buy any more.  I did not, however, behave.  I got a couple of balls of Dark Side, a dark rainbow that's probably self-striping.  I didn't check, I just went "Me want yarn" and clicked.

I thought about getting yarn for the Sylvi coat and decided that it was not a good thing to do.

I picked up a ball of Stroll in a cute multicolor called Gumball (on sale).

I spotted some new-to-me speckled Hawthorne yarn and discovered it is out of stock until later in the month.  I'll splurge on it next time I have one of my Knit Picks attacks.  I got some Hawthorne handpainted in a colorway called Happy Valley as a consolation prize.

At this point, there was less than a ball of yarn's worth of ordering for free shipping, so you know I couldn't stop.  I got a little tool pouch with a llama on it.  I like llamas.

TDS Stage 2

The good news is I moved up from 56 on Stage 1 to 34 on Stage 2.  The bad news?  The yarn I picked was not good for showing off all of the lovely cables.  There are pages and pages of Finns wearing beautiful, light-colored socks.  This is what mine look like (minus the pins):

It's no wonder I got a couple of Funny clicks on the post.  Sigh.

Stash Enhancement Saturday

It isn't quite Saturday, but the camera's behaving and I'm here, so why not?

The newest addition to my t-shirt stash was inspired by Doctor Seuss:

I like yarn with splatters on it.  My favorite dyer seems to have disappered from Etsy, so I got these from Up In Yarns Designs.

Finished Object Friday

I attempted to get a bunch of things done before Tour de Sock started on June 1.

The pillow with the start of Beowulf in old English finally was pillow-fied:
It was a sock pattern that I modifed to cover a pillow.  It's just the sort of goofy project that appeals to me.

After doing the pillow, I lined the pink cabled backpack that has been collecting dust.  I also lined the Sheep Tote:
It still needs eyelets and the handles.  It was an interesting project.  I've been doing crochet even longer than I have knitting.  I've never done colorwork like this before.

The Null Hypothesis scarf is done, just in time for 90+ degree weather.
The Winslow Arizona socks are done.  They've got beads and cables and lace that are pretty much invisible:

Tour de Sock #2 begins tomorrow night.  I'm ready.

WIP Update

I was going to take a few pictures, but the camera said "Battery Exhausted".  I know how it feels.

I intended to catch up on some things between Tour de Sock stages.  I started to finish the Isieme mystery socks and my brain said "no".  I have to do some tricks to make the legs wearable and just couldn't force myself to do them right now.   This is what they looked like early on:

The final Club Mac pattern arrived.  I decided that there would be no new socks started until the Tour is over.  I picked out yarn for it:
The Knit From Stash pattern for June has not arrived yet, but a pattern was supplied to make up for the delay.  It's going to be done later.  This is some Jitterbug that I'll be using for it.

I got the pattern for the Sylvie coat.  It needs to be modifed for size and for the amount of yarn I have.  I don't know yet if I'll do it with this yarn.  If more than one decision needs to be made on a project, it ends up at the end of the queue.  That's where this one is at.

The only actual knitting I did this week is swatching for the next stage of Tour de Sock.  It starts on Saturday night.  I've been working on the cross-stitch sampler I started months ago.  I also went on a little shopping binge.  There's a knitting-themed tshirt on the way, at least four skeins of yarn, and a replacement set of size 0 dpns.  I'm trying some bamboo needles this time.  I can guarantee that if those skinny little things are wooden, I'll snap them.

Tour de Sock 2016 - Leg 1

It took 2 1/2 days, 1 broken size 0 dpn, and the first two seasons of Gilmore Girls.
I did them in a size Large.  The remainder of the Tour socks will be Small.  And they won't be on size 0 needles, either.

The official standings haven't been posted yet.  Based on the number of posts in the finished sock thread, I'm probably between 60 and 70.  It is slower than I expected.  Still, out of nearly 1200 knitters, it isn't too bad.
ETA:   the Leaderboard's updated and I'm at 55 for this round.  Those speedy Finns are dominating the top of the board, per usual.
